Refugee Visits – Can You Help?

Oban Welcomes Refugees

The Rockfield Centre is going to be hosting some visiting groups of refugees on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th of March.

These day trips are being organised by Paul Gibson, originally from Oban and now working for Rabbie’s Tours. Rabbie’s are providing the buses and drivers and The Rockfield Centre is hosting the lunch stop.

The trips will give people living in hard situations a change of scene and a day’s respite. It will also give these new Scots a chance to see more of their adopted country, and hopefully find a warm welcome in the west highlands.

We are looking for volunteers to help us cater for the visitors. Could you donate:
– a pot of soup on either day?
– a plate of sandwiches or a bowl of salad?
– some home-baking?

We need to feed about 20 people on the Saturday and about 35 on the Sunday, arriving around 12:30pm.

We could also do with an extra pair of hands or two on both days to help welcome people and serve lunch.

If you can help out, please get in touch with Rhona on arts@therockfieldcentre.org.uk / 07555342707.

Many thanks in advance.
